Hancock Elementary - (2016-2017) Hancock's accelerated 6th graders completed a STEM challenge building the Great Wall of China out of marshmallows structures (cubes, square pyramids, pentagonal pyramids, etc). The students worked in pairs, each with 200 toothpicks and 200 marshmallows. Some of their walls could even support the weight a textbook!

This achievement-based scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. Justin and Dhruv are among the 150 winning seniors in the US. This prestigious scholarship carries a $20,000 scholarship toward any college of their choice and an all-expense paid trip to the Coke Headquarters in Atlanta.
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton High hosted the 19th annual Hamilton Invitational Science and Engineering Fair (HISEF). Winners from elementary, junior high and high schools came together to compete for the opportunity to be named the best of CUSD. There were 1,400 5th to 12th grade participants, and the winners of HISEF move on to compete at the state Arizona Science and Engineering Fair (AzSEF).

Hamilton High - (2016-2017) March 2 might be Dr. Seuss's birthday, but it's also the annual Read Across America Day. The event was started to encourage reading awareness initiatives across the country in honor of Dr. Seuss. Hamilton High School athletes from the Football team along with teachers read to students at Fulton Elementary School. It was an amazing experience for our students to help inspire a love of reading to younger kids!
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) HHS Theatre Department is back in action with their spring play, "Shrek the Musical. " Everyone's favorite ogre is a hilarious stage spectacle! Nearly 80 students are involved on stage, in the band, and working behind the scenes. Christina Vail, our theatre instructor, put together a spectacular show which is being evaluated by the National Youth Arts Awards judges and the National High School Musical Theatre Awards. Our theatre crew performs at the Gammage Auditorium this summer.

Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton AFJROTC students Bryce Martin and Ben Ivan took top honors at this year's annual multi-service Southwest JROTC Desert Orienteering Championship at the Lake Pleasant Orienteering course. With over 65 high school JROTC programs and 1, 000+ participants in the state, Hamilton's team of 28 cadets led by sophomore Carson Beck, has been honing their skills at practices and competitions all year and qualified from among hundreds of teams for a spot at this year's 25-team championship.
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton High School hosted the 19th Annual 4.0 Awards Night Ceremony. Students recognized for the award had to have a 4.0 or higher rolling cumulative GPA at the end of the 1st semester of this school year. There were a total of 1,091 students, around 27% of the entire student body at HHS, who received the award: 305 Freshmen, 323 Sophomores, 269 Juniors, and 194 Seniors. Congratulations to all the recipients for their scholastic excellence!

Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Congratulations to Rose and Grace Wodarcyk, who were winners in the Youth Symphony of the Southwest concerto competition. Rose Wodarcyk will perform as a soloist with the Youth Symphony of the Southwest next season, and Grace Wodarcyk will perform with the parent organization, the Symphony of the Southwest, next season as well. Bravo to both of these very talented young musicians!
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton Spanish club members had a field trip to a dance studio and learned to dance salsa and merengue. After the dance lesson, students had lunch at Mambo's Dominican kitchen. Students enjoyed a traditional Dominican meal while listening to Latin music. This field trip was an enriched culture experience for the students.

Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton celebrated Multicultural Week and the various cultural backgrounds that make up our student body. African dance was performed by the 'Vibe Club' for Africa Day. The Hamilton Chamber Choir performed 'Juego aque me quemo' and 'Sfogava con le Stelle' for Europe Day. Korean Pop Culture Club presented a great musical selection for Asia Day. Tahitian and Hawaiian dance were performed by Jasmine Zaporteza. It was an amazing colorful multicultural experience!

Hamilton High - (2016-2017) City of Chandler, the Chandler Non-Profit Coalition and For Our City presented the annual Chandler Volunteer Recognition Awards in honor of the tremendous contributions volunteers bring to the community. Hamilton is honored to have Heidi Ross as an amazing volunteer who was recognized as the top 5 People's choice category. She reaches out to our school all the time, drops off donations/gift cards for families in need, educates us on new resources, and updates us on new city programs.
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton Dance Company team competed at the Universal Dance Association's National Dance Team Competition in Orlando, Florida. The girls went into semifinals and ended up 4th in the Jazz category. In the Hip Hop category, they came one short from proceeding to the finals. In over 150 teams competing at this national competition, Hamilton has been chosen twice to compete!
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton AFJROTC had a great performance at the Colorado River Veteran's Drill Meet with several award winners: 2nd place - 10 person Unarmed Regulation Drill; 3rd place - 10 Unarmed Exhibition Drill; and 2nd place - Armed Exhibition Drill. At the individual drill down (competition to see who can do the most drill movements correctly), Lee Andrew Rohrman, Benjamin Ivan, and Olivia Burtless took 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton celebrated the Chinese New Year on campus. Mrs. Kuo, our Mandarin Chinese teacher, had several celebration activities planned to share the spring festival culture with the school. Students performed the traditional Chinese dragon and lion dance. Several booths were set-up in the hallway to show the Chinese culture. We also got to see the artist Mr. Lee Cheng demonstrate Chinese drawing. What a great cultural experience for the entire school!

Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Congratulations to Mr. McCain's Marketing/DECA students who won 12 outstanding awards and recognition at the ASU competition for their marketing knowledge and professionalism. HHS took home 4 out 6 of the overall performance awards, which includes individual exams and business role plays in the Marketing Principles competition. DECA students won 5 awards for above average test scores, three role play awards and four overall performance awards in Marketing and Sports and Entertainment subjects.
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) The Hamilton annual talent show sponsored by the National Honor Society (NHS) was a great success! Students from all grade levels showcased their talents. The winner of this year's Talent Show was Andy Kwon. Second Place - Dropstick, consisting of Alec Smith, Daniel Bihnam, Ryan Longshore, and Adrian Dozal. Third Place - Justin Zhu. Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton social worker, Rajani Rastogi, along with the Hamilton staff, parents and the community came together in helping our homeless and disadvantaged students and families for the Adopt-a-Family program. The support and generosity of everyone working together helped 86 families during the holiday season.
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton Boys Soccer team won the Arizona Soccer Showcase for their third year in a row in dramatic fashion defeating Corona Del Sol High School in the final by way of penalty kicks. The Arizona Soccer Showcase is viewed as the top high school soccer event in Arizona, and one of the top high school soccer events in the country.
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) The Polly Rosenbaum Writing Contest is a long-standing tradition honoring Mrs. Rosenbaum, a former Arizona State Representative and teacher, who believed Arizona's young people are the state's greatest resource. The Arizona Educational Foundation establishes a theme for the contest every year. Hamilton is proud to have three winners: Katherine Chou won 1st place in the 9th/10th grade category. Shruthi Srinivasan won 1st place in the 11th/12th grade category, and Momen Abdelkarim took 3rd place.

Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton AFJROTC went out to support San Tan Area Ride, an equestrian association that puts on ride clinics. Our cadets participated in this community service by providing help in various areas during the trail ride competition. The student volunteers took care of the horses and also assisted the riders during the competition. This was a unique opportunity for our HHS AFJROTC to help the community.

Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Regeneron Science Talent Search is the nation's most prestigious pre-college science competition, awarding more than $3.1 million annually. Hamilton is proud to have seniors Justin Zhu and Dhruv Iyer as semifinalists among the 300 chosen from a total of 1,700 applicants worldwide. If selected, they will participate in final judging, display their work to the public, meet with notable scientists, and compete for the top award of $250,000 in Washington D.C.
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton's Spirit Link Competition met their goal of raising $4,000 to support various charities like the Adopt a Family Program and other non-profit organizations such as the Chandler Care Center, Tempe Community Action Agency, and Maggie's Place. Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Congratulations to Sachin Konan, Karthik Rajkumar, and Shardul Kothapalli for taking the first place trophy at the F1 in Schools Arizona Regional Championship. In addition to the first place trophy, Hamilton's F1 team also took individual trophies for best engineered car and for fastest car. The team now qualifies for the U.S. National F1 in Schools championship this summer.
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton Senior Valerie Navarrete was the winner of the VFW Post 7401 in the Voice of Democracy contest. She won the first part of a three tier competition which was a speech with the prompt, "My responsibility to America." Her speech will be represented at the district and state level which will be eligible for a $30,000 in scholarship money. Well done, Valerie!

Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Mike Lisi's 2nd year Business students hosted the 11th Annual Business Fair at Hamilton. Students spent this entire quarter starting a small business. They developed a product idea, prepared a business plan, created all of the advertising to promote their product, secured an ethical vendor/supplier, created a 30-60 second commercial with our TV Production students, and made an investor pitch to entrepreneurs at Gangplank. The technology-related products they created sold from $3 to $20.

The 2016 Arizona Girls All-Academic Volleyball Team for Divisions 6A-4A recognized: Senior Preslie Anderson, Middle Hitter, 3.945 GPA, led team in points scored, led team in attack attempts, kills and hitting percentage, 2nd in blocks; Junior Darian Clark, Outside Hitter, 4.208 GPA, second on the team in kills, second in kills per game, led team in 3.3 digs per game.

Hundreds attended, including junior high AVID students, current HHS AVID students and HHS alumni, all gathered to celebrate the program that offers a path to success in high school and college. Representatives from universities in Arizona, Colorado, and Utah and representatives from all military branches participated in sharing information about scholarship opportunities offered through their organizations.

Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton Social Worker Rajani Rastogi and her team delivered a record 104 Thanksgiving meals to our homeless and disadvantaged families. We delivered to Hamilton families as well as to families of Andersen, San Marcos and Santan Elementary schools and Bogle Junior High. This could not have been possible without the sponsorship from Sun Lakes United Methodist Church and Safeway. A special thanks to our Hamilton parents and all who came to the church and Safeway to help with assembling the meals.
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) The Hamilton AFJROTC (Air Force Junior ROTC) Holiday Food Drive generated over 1,300 food item donations to be given to the Salvation Army just in time for Thanksgiving. Cadets Andrew Rohrman and Christopher Butler headed up the efforts of the entire Cadet Group.
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton's Model United Nations (MUN) club did an outstanding job competing against ten other schools, earning the following honors. Distinguished delegate: Thomas Duke, Allison Chen, and Ruby Gao. We are very proud that our country of Spain took the top country award. That means our top delegates beat every other schools top delegates. Ritika Bharati, Anuj Shah, Allison Chen, Ashley Dussault, Hannah Ngo and Thomas Duke represented Spain. Well done, MUN Club!
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Christina Vail, Hamilton theatre department teacher, was awarded the Theatre Teacher of the Year in the State! The fall play, Hamlet-ma-Geddon, which she directed, was declared top of the state in many categories. Congratulations, Christina Vail, for all your hard work and dedication!

Hamilton was declared the top school in the state in many categories with our students receiving many college offers from schools across the nation. Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton High School sponsored the First Annual Boys Tennis Doubles Tournament Fundraiser, to raise money for the boys tennis program. The event also encouraged all the Hamilton Husky tennis alumni to participate. All levels of players participated, and the tournament was a success.
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton High School's Mr. Jacob Harvey was recognized by the Veterans of Foreign Wars as the nation's top classroom at a high school who teaches citizenship education topics regularly and promotes America's history and traditions effectively. Mr. Harvey has been selected for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8053 (Sun Lakes) Teacher of the Year. Senior Hannah Li tied for first place with a round of two under 70 to lead Hamilton, followed by a fifth place finish for freshman Alyzzah Vakasioula (72) and freshman Toni St John in seventh place (75). Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton High School Theatre Department performed their fall play, Hamlet Thrill-ma-Geddon, and received an amazing response. Numerous students auditioned, 33 actors were part of the play, and 24 worked behind the stage. Christina Vail, our theatre instructor, turned Shakespeare's greatest tragedy into a spectacular hilarious version of the greatest play in the English Language. Our Theatre Department has been selected to perform at Phoenix Civic Plaza for an audience of 4,000! Incredible!
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Please congratulate this year's women's swim team as they finished 3rd in state, including a state title for McKenzee Gordon in the 500 freestyle as well as a 2nd place in the 200 freestyle. Our women's 4x100 freestyle relay consisting of Jamie Seddon, McKenzee Gordon, Kate Seddon and Irena Putikova are also state champions!
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton High School held a Leadership Assembly for freshmen students. The focus was to make sure students understand that they all have influence on others, especially through social media. Our guest speaker, Logan Weber, conveyed a message of acceptance and compassion for our school community. Hamilton's Art Club and the Hamilton Dance Company also gave amazing performances to spread the word to stop bullying.
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) HHS Junior, Kara Linder, received the Grand Canyon State Games Athlete of The Year Award at the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Kara's currently ranks: #1 Cadet National Team Women's Sabre, #1 Junior National Team Women's Sabre, #13 on the senior national rolling points; and #5 in the world for Junior Women's Sabre fencers! Kara balances classes at Hamilton and COA, fencing, international travel, NHS, and is an FFA Officer. She is an accomplished fencer at a very young age. Grand Canyon State Games website
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Hamilton High School and Chandler High School participated in the Wish Week school-wide fundraiser. Both schools raised a combined amount of $4,900 for the organization, and all proceeds goes directly to Make-A-Wish Arizona. The check was presented to Mia, a young girl whose wish was granted and came to accept the check. Well done for such amazing support!
Hamilton High - (2016-2017) Westwood hosted a Model United Nations (MUN) conference for new members. Hamilton had 8 delegates in 4 committees and took home 6 out of the 8 awards. They received both the awards in the general committee as well as in the second committee. In the 4th committee, our delegates won the Top Policy Paper, and in UNDP they won Top Diplomat Award. Congratulations to the students: Jay Cheeti, Xavier Valdez, Nandini Sojitra, Dheeti Deliwala, Anusha Natarajan, Ruby Gao, Rebecca Scott, and Anish Agarwal!
