I love being the counselor at San Marcos Elementary School. I have been involved in the education field since 1997 as a teacher/counselor. My family and I moved from Chicago in 2013 and we are really enjoying the warmer weather. We have 3 children who attend CUSD schools and they keep us very busy!
My Education and Professional Background
In 1997 I graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a major in psychology. Then in 1999, I received a Master's in Teaching from the University of Portland through a program call ACE- Alliance for Catholic Education where I taught in Shreveport, Louisiana for 2 years. After being in the classroom for 2 years, I decided to focus on the mental health of students. While teaching back in Chicago at a private school, I received a Master's in Human Services and Counseling from DePaul University. Then I became the Counselor and Case Manager at 2 different Chicago Public Schools for 11 years.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe all students can learn and should be accepted for who they are.
