I am excited to be a part of Andersen Junior High. I look forward to a school year in which I can interact with students, teachers and parents in order to build relationships in order to help every child succeed. I am originally from Carson City, went to ASU for undergrad and GCU for grad school, and I love my life in Ahwatukee with my wife and 2 daughters.
My Education and Professional Background
This is my first year as Dean and Athletic Director at Andersen Junior High. The past 4 years I have been teaching physical education at Shumway Elementary preceded by 4 years travel around our awesome school district teaching P.E. From 2004 to 2008 I taught health and Physical Education at St. Joseph's School in Fort Collins, CO to 3rd through 9th grade. My passion is working with students of all ages in order to make sure they can be successful in school as well as outside of school.
My Educational Philosophy
My philosophy is that tall students deserve the opportunity to learn and have equal opportunity for success in school. Teachers should be able to establish a connection with all students and give 100% effort all of the time. A school should be a positive learning environment in which students feel safe and be a place they enjoy going to each day. A motto I try to use as an educator comes from a speaker I saw at a conference and she told me to 'Out weird the weirds'. That has taken me long way so far.
